Craftsmanship, Tradition, and Beauty.

Heritage Barn Company, located in Eastern Connecticut, specializes in crafting beautiful New England style timber frame structures with traditional joinery techniques. We hand cut our frames with a strong commitment to quality and craftsmanship.  Our team takes pride in every project, ensuring that each structure is not only beautiful but strong enough to stand the test of time.  Whether you're looking for a beautiful space to entertain, work or relax, we can design and build a timber frame structure you'll love at a price you can afford.

Our Process

There are lots of moving parts to each project, and we are there each step of the way to ensure that you get the building of your dreams at a price you can afford.

Consultation: We begin by collaborating closely with you to develop a plan for a truly unique structure that reflects the look and function of your building. We meet with you and gather information to determine the size and scope of your project to develop an initial estimate of the project costs.

Estimation:  Based on your vision and our experience, we formulate a cost estimate for your project. We provide you with a detailed project proposal so you see exactly what you are paying for with no hidden costs or surprises.

Design:  We then design a unique plan for your project and provide you with 3D sketches so you can see exactly what your project will look like before it's built.  This is the point where your building truly becomes yours; we work with you to develop a structure that is beautiful and built to stand the test of time.  Once we finalize the design and scope of work, we provide you with a detailed quote for your approval.

Fabrication:  With a final design based on our collaborative efforts, we produce detailed shop drawings to allow our craftsman to meticulously hand cut your frame using traditional timber frame joinery.  We acquire the raw materials for your frame from locally-sourced timber and begin cutting your custom frame either at your site or in our shop.

Delivery:  We then deliver the completed frame components to your site and begin assembly.  Once the frame is assembled we complete the project by installing the finish components like siding, roofing, doors, windows etc. until your building is completed to your satisfaction.

Choices:  We can have as much or as little involvement in the overall project as you want.  There are numerous steps involved in the building process from permits to foundations to roofing and everything in between.  We can act as the General Contractor and handle everything, or we can work with your contractor(s) as part of your building team.

Pricing

The most common question clients have about their timber frame building project is "how much does a timber frame building cost?". This is a hard question to answer because it depends on a variety of factors, such as design, finish materials, and location.  It's kind of like asking "how much is a car?"; costs can vary wildly from one model to another and even between one dealer and another for the same product.

The best way to determine the cost of your timber frame project is to schedule a free consultation with us to review your desired project.

The price gap between timber frame construction and conventional "stick frame" construction has closed significantly with the drastic rise in conventional building material costs.  Your dream of owning a beautiful, functional timber frame building could be closer than you may have thought.
